Additional description or bio about me:
Dr. Philip Templeton has strong backgrounds in both academic medicine and entrepreneurial medicine.
A graduate and valedictorian at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, he did his internship in Medicine at the Georgetown University Hospital. His radiology residency was at the University of Maryland, where he also served as Chief Resident. He undertook his Thoracic Radiology Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Academic highlights include being Thoracic Radiology Section Chief at Johns Hopkins and subsequently at the University of Maryland; Consultant Radiologist at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology for ten years; and Radiology Professor and Chairman at the University of Maryland for ten years. His major academic interest was in the uses of CT and other technologies for examining thoracic pathology, with over 150 articles, book chapters, presentations and exhibits on CT and MRI in the Thorax. He was a pioneer in the use of CT Fluoroscopy, lecturing and demonstrating CT Fluoro biopsy techniques nationally and internationally.
He was a pioneer in digital x-ray and the use of PACS and teleradiology, presenting at multiple categorical courses at RSNA the University of Maryland experience in creating the largest electronic imaging enterprise in the US, and hosting and chairing SCAR (now SIIM) in 1998.
While at University of Maryland, he more than doubled the clinical practice by adding on coverage to additional hospitals, imaging centers and teleradiology projects. He was intimately involved in capital and technology acquisition, planning, and management of these sites. He served on the advisory boards of multiple imaging companies, as well as serving as the President of the Medical staff for two years.
Dr. Templeton was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 2000.
In 2001 Dr. Templeton left his chair to found and develop a successful national teleradiology business, servicing 34 US states and ranked #2 in the US. He sold that company in 2008. Subsequently he has been a consultant, chief medical officer and investor/entrepreneur in various fields in and out of medicine.
With 35 years of clinical and diagnostic imaging experience, Dr. Templeton is a valued member of the DocPanel family. His extensive medical background is what enables the meticulous execution of DocPanel’s vision — to provide all imaging providers and patients with sub-specialty resources that enable fast, accurate, and expert diagnostic interpretations.
Philip works as DocPanel’s Chief Medical Officer, but his continued contribution across relationship development, marketing, sales and business operations has cemented DocPanel’s relevancy and value in the imaging and healthcare industry.
