MEDNAX has added a new practice to its rapidly growing list of acquisitions: Synergy Radiology Associates of Houston, Texas, the largest private radiology group in the greater Houston area.
MEDNAX, the South Florida-based health solutions service, has spent 2017 scooping up radiology practices across the country. Synergy Radiology is the Mednax’s fourth radiology acquisition of the year and 10th physician practice acquisition. According to a press release, the move will help bolster Synergy’s imaging technology system. “A partnership with MEDNAX is the natural next step as it will allow us to continue on a path of growth while gaining the support of the most technologically advanced PACS and RIS system in the industry, the vRad platform,” said Walid K. Adham, MD, president and CEO of Synergy. “We also share a common vision of creating the most advanced radiology practice in the country, which combines reputable radiology groups in an integrated practice supported by technology to harness the best assets on the ground and in the cloud.”
Synergy provides a wide array of imaging services, including: image guided therapy, pediatric radiology, neuroradiology, breast imaging, interventional and vascular radiology, among other practices. They employ over 90 physicians at 160 sites, including 15 hospitals, 105 individual emergency rooms, urgent care facilities, care centers, clinics, and imaging centers. They also run collaborative services with memorial Hermann Health System and HCA Healthcare.
This was a cash purchase, and no other terms have been released. “Our partnership with Synergy is very exciting, particularly given the group’s prominent position in the field and its strategic partnerships with several key health care systems,” said Roger J. Medel, MD, MEDNAX’s CEO.
